Focus on Quantity as Well as Quality
If you struggle to brush for a full two minutes, segue to an electric toothbrush with a built-in timer. Set the timer for two minutes to guarantee your teeth are cleaned to perfection. However, it is not only the length of time that matters in the context of brushing but also the manner in which you clean your teeth. If you brush of floss improperly, then you will only cause more damage instead of good.
Mind Your Brushing Technique: Clean the Entirety of Your Mouth
Move your toothpaste-laden toothbrush head over the front and back of your teeth in small circles. Clean every single tooth in your mouth. Do not stop after you have moved the toothbrush over your teeth. If the toothpaste is depleted, add some more to your toothbrush and continue cleaning your tongue, the roof of your mouth and the insides of your cheeks.
Flossing Technique Also Matters
Too many people rush through flossing by simply moving the floss up and down between the teeth. You paid good money for your floss so take the time necessary to get the most utility out of it. Glide the floss down between each of your teeth on into the gums and to form the shape of the letter “C.” Lift the floss out in a gentle manner to remove the bacteria, plaque and food debris from beneath the gum line.
Rinse With Mouthwash
Most dentists recommend rinsing between flossing and brushing. This way, you can leave the toothpaste directly on your teeth after brushing so its fluoride fortifies your teeth. Rinse with an antibacterial mouthwash designed to fight cavities and whiten the teeth.
